A great end to the year for gamers!

Tomorrow is the end of my personal life!

As of the 28th of this month, gamers will be spoilt for choice with a number of mind blowing titles coming out. Starting with the international release of Battlefield 3 yesterday (resold on the 28th in SA) Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3 in November, Star Wars: The Old Republic in December and Diablo 3 scheduled for early next year. Many man hours will be spent in front of the pc, at least for me!

I'm excited for all those titles but probably the most anticipated one of the lot has been Battlefield 3.

I had a chance to play the Beta version and it is undescribably good! Possibly too good!

To justify this statement, EA released the Beta with lowered graphics. The full version, exhibited at Gamescon this year, managed to kill 20% of the high end machines they used for the show.
http://www.modmywhat.com/article/Over-20--high-end-PCs-fried-at-the-Battlefield-3-booth-at-GamesCom-2011/858 This was mainly attributed to graphics card drivers. But the recommended specs for the game is actually quite high.

These are the recommended specs as per the Origin website:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core CPU
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive: 20 GB
Graphics Card: DirectX 11 compatible with 1024 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950)
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

So If you are lacking in specs, here is what you should be looking at to spend.
Intel Core I5 2300 R2399
Geforce GTX 560 R2699
ATI Radeon 6950 R3549

Finally, have a look at this awesome interface that some tech-heads developed for BF3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eg8Bh5iI2WY
